We asked Dave a few questions about work and play.

What does your working day consist of? 

Program and database management activities associated with client projects, and supporting the applications and system tools used by the AWS organization.

How do you spend your free time?

For recreation I play golf, and for enjoyment, I cook. I also use my “enjoyment of cooking” by serving as a volunteer for two local charitable organizations.

Favorite Food?

In the words of Andrew Zimmerman, “if it looks good, eat it”.  It’s more about the surroundings and the company! Tapas (particularly Oxtail) in Seville, Rabbit Stew in Rome or a Ploughman’s lunch at a country pub in England.

What four people would you invite (from any point in history) to eat with you? 

The king of chefs, Auguste Escoffier and the following great French chefs; Paul Bocuse, Marie-Antoine Carême, Prosper Montagné and Alain Ducasse.

Favorite Place?

Two places come to mind; Rome during Christmas (low key, low commercialism and great food), and Andalusia (Spain) in early summer (low key, great atmosphere and great food).

My (ex) best kept secret? 

Although I rock climbed for many years and also jumped out of perfectly good aircraft more than a dozen times, I still have a major fear of heights.
